The Sports Museum preserves the tangible and intangible sports heritage and presents and researches Slovenia’s sporting past. It commemorates the most significant achievements and other milestones of Slovenian athletes, sports workers, and other individuals, as well as National team and club/team successes. In accordance with Slovenian legislation and international guidelines and recommendations, it provides a public service as the central sports museum in Slovenia. Through its collections of sports heritage items, it is committed to collecting, organising, preserving, studying, keeping, understanding, interpreting, and thoroughly presenting the Slovenian sports heritage. It encourages its visitors and the public to preserve and protect the sports heritage by giving advice on how to preserve it themselves or by donating materials and objects to the Museum.
