Exhibition First Matches, First Clubs: The Beginnings of Ljubljana Football

We are announcing the touring exhibition about the beginning of football in Ljubljana, which will be on the platform in front of the renovated Ilirija Sports Center in Ljubljana.

As part of the 3rd Ljubljana Sports Festival, from 1 September to 26 September 2025, you will be able to see where the first matches took place at the beginning of the 20th century and how the foundations of Slovenian football were created. The author of the exhibition is Aleš Šafarič, PhD.

The Museum of Sports invites all football fans to help complete the museum collection with photographs, objects or stories and co-create a memory of the rich football heritage.

The touring exhibition was made possible by the City of Ljubljana and the public institute Šport Ljubljana.
