Summer Museum Night

Summer Museum Night returns for its 24th consecutive year, inviting visitors to the welcoming spaces of museums and galleries across Slovenia. Historical and art exhibitions, concerts, workshops, guided tours, walks through parks and gardens, social games, and cycling tours will provide a rich and varied programme throughout the evening. All events and exhibition visits are free of charge.
We warmly invite you to explore the exhibitions of the Sports Museum in Ljubljana and Koper on Saturday, 20 June, from 6.00 pm to midnight.
Collecting, Researching, Reviving: Sports Heritage and the Sports Museum
Slovenian School Museum
This exhibition presents the development of numerous sporting disciplines, including gymnastics, cycling, athletics, water sports, skating, skiing, mountaineering and climbing, as well as ball games. Through museum objects and archival materials, it showcases the work of the Sports Museum to date, offering a concise overview of the breadth and richness of Slovenia’s sporting heritage.

Stanko Bloudek: Life, Work and Legacy
Ilirija Sports Centre
At the initiative of the Municipality of Ljubljana, the Sports Museum prepared a temporary exhibition on Stanko Bloudek for the newly renovated Ilirija Sports Centre in the heart of Ljubljana. Presented in the form of a large-scale photographic wall display, the exhibition takes visitors through the key milestones of Bloudek’s life and portrays him as a versatile individual with a remarkable range of interests, talents and expertise.

Heritage Under the Hoops: The Living Heritage of Generations
Regional Museum Koper
In 2025, the Sports Museum created a panel exhibition entitled Heritage Beneath the Basket. Seeking to present Slovenia’s rich basketball history in a more tangible way, we expanded the original exhibition and enriched it with an exceptional collection of artefacts. The enhanced exhibition will tour venues across Slovenia over the next two years.
