Planica’s Olympic spirit 1984 in Brežice
Sport has a rich tradition in the valley under Ponce, which we revived this time in the spirit of the Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984. At the Sports Museum, we want to raise awareness of the importance of sports in Slovenia to the wider public by collecting and displaying Slovenian sports heritage, and thereby preserve the spirit and values domestic and wider (sporting) past.
The exhibition was set up in front of the Planica Nordic Center in 2024. Exhibition presents the role and contribution of individuals and groups of people (sports workers, athletes in the Nordic industries and various photojournalists) to the organization, preparation and execution of the largest sporting event in Yugoslavia – the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984. All listed are directly or indirectly connected with ski jumps and competitions in Planica, where they left their mark in different ways. Through their eyes, memories and experiences, you will learn what it was like to be part of a huge organizational and administrative machine.
The exhibition will be on display in the Posavje Museum in Brežice from January 16 to March 31, 2025.
