Summary
The historical account begins with a presentation of the mission and collecting policy of the Sports Museum, which is currently followed by its staff. However, this could not have been created and pursued without understanding the Sports Museum's past. Therefore, the publication provides a brief overview of the rich tradition of collecting, interpreting, and exhibiting sports-related heritage pursued by stakeholders from different parts of society. This is followed by a detailed history of the Museum's journey, covering the period from 2000 to 2022. The publication concludes with a personal account by the Museum's first director, Iztok Durjava, who presents the Museum's story and his view of its activities and the events surrounding it.
