Glimpses of Ljubljana’s Sports Past
Through old photographs and museum objects, the exhibition of the Sport Museum shows a few selected industries that have deeply marked Ljubljana's and Slovenia's sports history in the past and with it. Most of the sports presented were at least at some point related to the area where the Ljubljana Sports Festival takes place today, which is park Tivoli and its surroundings.
The Sport Museum is committed to collecting, preserving, studying and exhibiting the rich Slovenian sports heritage. The desire and goal is to cover all areas of sports and all sports branches, so it invites everyone to help in completing the museum’s collections and thus become guardians of sports heritage themselves. The exhibition was created on the initiative of the City of Ljubljana, Department of Sports as part of the 2nd Ljubljana Sports Festival. From the rich collection of various sports branches, we transformed the exhibition Sport Museum: Safeguarding Sports Heritage and placed it in the rich tradition of the development of sports branches on the perimeter of Tivoli Park in Ljubljana.
